Falling Gardens of Old

The kind people over at Architectradure reminded me quite some time ago about one of the most magical places I've ever been, so I'm finally getting around to sharing. The beautiful images below are the work of Gerda Steiner and Jörg Lenzlinger from their installation at the Venice Biennale of 2003. It was magical enough to be in Venice for the very first time, but casually (accidentally!) strolling into the San Staë church on the Grand Canal, I was definitely not prepared for the magic within.

Truly breathtaking.

Spring Cleaning

I am easily one of the messiest people I know. My only close rival is my significant other, so with our powers combined, our tiny apartment often looks post-apocalyptic, to say the least.

So Spring cleaning isn't so much a joy as it is a painful, season-long exercise in heavy lifting and archaeological discoveries of historic significance.

In my mind, my apartment is a beautifully stylish minimalist paradise.

But in reality, despite my best intentions, it somehow never deviates too far from this...

Even my best attempts to "get organised" often end up half completed, as evidenced by my brilliant concept of packing up rarely used clothes and books into boxes. 3 months later, two boxes still sit in the living room half packed, and the other two are empty, taking up an inordinate amount of room in what is easily the world's smallest wardrobe. Ingenious!

That Unreliable Girl

[ THE BLOG ]

That Unreliable Girl
is a collection of inspiration, beauty, daily musings and all sorts of lovely little things that happen to take the fancy of a slightly erratic young lady, Ms. Unreliable.

After only three months on the blogging scene, That Unreliable Girl was featured as the weekly blog on style bible decor8, and was selected as the official Blogger "Blog of Note" only three months later.

[ THE GIRL ]

Ms. Unreliable is a dreamer who can usually be found with her head in the clouds. A little quirky, a little erratic, and very forgetful, she wouldn't function without endless lists and multiple alarms. She also answers to Kit, but is most often referred to as "That Unreliable Girl."

When Ms. Unreliable has her feet firmly on the ground, she loves all things design, including fashion, art, photography, decorating and architecture, and she loves sharing her passions with anyone who will listen.

Ms. Unreliable also writes for the popular design blog, 2Modern, and has also written for the much-loved independent design publication, Mankind Mag. She hopes to use her background in architecture, graphic design and writing in her ultimate quest for a career in design journalism.

Ms. Unreliable is currently available for freelance writing opportunities, so if you need someone to write about design, architecture or all the little bits in between, please contact her via email and say hello!

She also dabbles in web design - her latest collaboration took the form of a blog redesign - see the results for yourself at Daydream Lily.
