So Long Summer!

It's windy. It's cold. It's pouring rain. And I've never been more excited that the cooler months are finally rolling my way. Bear with me, lovely northern hemisphere folks! I know many of you are glad to see the tail end of winter, but I've been stockpiling winter fashion goodness all through the long, hot Sydney summer, and now I can finally throw on a scarf and revisit some of my favourite looks.

First of all...
[ COLOUR! ]
There's nothing better than seeing bright splashes of colour on grey, rainy days. I'm continuing my Mimosa obsession into winter if it's the last thing I do! And maybe a little mustard too. Ok, why stop there? Acid oranges, electric blues, teals and reds...

[ NEUTRALS! ]
Not that there's anything wrong with toning things down of course! Mixing greys, blacks, and even browns (gasp!) together with softer blues, purples and greens - delicious! Throw in a bit of texture or pattern for good measure and you're good to go!

[ MONOCHROME! ]
If you're going to head down Monochromatic Road, it's easy to find yourself veering onto Blandy McBoring Lane. I know I'm a regular lane-dweller on Monday's in particular, mainly because I'm usually still mourning and recovering from the bygone weekend. These ladies however have definitely stayed on track. They could have taken a detour along Overbearingly Bright Accessories Drive...but they didn't. And they look amazing. And I want that hat.

And let's not forget that Winter time is indeed a wonderful fashion season for...
[ THE LADS! ]
I like a man in a scarf. I'd even go so far to say that I prefer a man in a scarf over a man in uniform. Outrageous, I know. My man-in-scarf obsession probably goes a long way towards explaining my near-combustible rapture that it's finally starting to cool down here. I really, really love scarves. I love vests too. And gloves. And maybe even a preppy blazer or two.

And BLUE SUEDE SHOES! Check out those guys boots! I happen to have a little pair of my own blue suede boots that I virtually live in during Winter, so if any Sydney-siders happen to see an overexcited blonde girl dancing around in puddles any time soon...don't worry, the boots are waterproofed!

I am looking very forward to donning my mustard yellow swing jacket again this winter, especially to show it off on my new fashion blog...last winter I got the odd comment or two from work colleagues or family but at least they noticed!

That yellow color is amazing! Here also in Canada, we are pretty much sick of winter and want summer to come ASAP!

Ok so I understand your desired to break out the beautiful winter gear. But up here, in Canada, well we are very happy that the snow hasn't come back.

you'll get sick of it. at least, if your winter is anything like winter in the pacific north west. I was all psyched to wear my cute winter sweaters and scarves and everything but oh my gosh i think if i have to put on one more long sleeved anything i'll bash my head against my wall. SUMMER PLEASE COME!

Well those of us in the Northern Hemisphere can keep cool by gazing on your winter photos and we'll keep you warm with our sunshine and beach photos. I think it's a lovely arrangement.

I will say, as much as I'm looking forward to warm spring evenings and cool summer nights, I absolutely hate summer fashion for men. Ugh.

Stegosaurus - Woo I love mustard too! I can't get away with a lot of different tones of yellow because of my pasty white skin and blonde hair, but mustard seems to be just fine! Meanwhile, I'm so in awe...you're a Lion King-loving gangster...it doesn't get much cooler than that :D

Char - They sure are, yellow especially! I only own one orange item of clothing and Mr. Unreliable hates it...so I wear it lots! My orange pashmina/navy jacket/denim jeans is one of my favourite/most comfortable outfits!

Mervat - I'm looking forward to seeing your swing jacket, the colour would go beautifully with your gorgeous skin too! Ah I'm so envious!

Kym - Yay another winter colour fan! It almost seemed to be an unspoken rule to keep to dark, monochromatic tones in the colder months here, I'm glad that seems to be a thing of the past! I do love spring though so I understand your excitement :D

Edi Retnati - Almost endless combinations, how can you go wrong?! Even the most "taboo" colour combinations are on the catwalks...red and pink?! :O And you're more than welcome to add my link, look forward to seeing more!

Khyote - Glad you like!

- Renée - - I love the yellows too, I try to wear bright colours all year round! Send me some of your snow, I'll happily take it off your hands! :D

TheFashionAddict - I understand, plus you always want what you can't have, right? Not to mention I've never seen snow so it sounds like fun to me, still has a novelty value! Driving or walking through snow, cold wet socks etc...doesn't even factor into my train of thought :D

Chantel - You have an ally in Mr. Unreliable, he hates my mustard tights AND my bright orange pashmina. :D

Madhav - Why thank you, there are some very talented people around with great photography skills and even better eyes for fashion! If only I had either :D

Kathleen Elizabeth - Teehee I think we're pretty lucky here in Sydney, our winters are quite mild (no snow or anything!) but still cold enough to warrant a few layers. Our summers however get very, very hot, so even I get sick of the beach...and I'm a beach-dweller from way back :D

My name is Erin. - Hehe good plan, I might even see if I can visit the snow and take some photos for you, just to make sure the summer heat doesn't get too much :D

Dominic - I have to agree with you there, especially when all Sydney lads all seem to dress in exactly the same shorts, canvas shoes, v-neck shirts and Ray Bans...ahhh! Bring back the scarf!
