Just White...

As anyone who has ever tried to chose the right shade of white for their walls would know, there's no such thing as "just white". There are cool whites, warm whites, creamy whites, beige whites, bright whites, antique whites, and all of these shades of white change throughout the day dependent upon sunshine, clouds, rain, snow...the list goes on.

White as we know it is a deceivingly complex concept despite its simple, innocent appearance. White can be clinical, it can be stark and heartless, and it can be plain boring. It can also be warm, comfortable, bright, inviting, soft, forgiving, calming, cooling...and when used in just the right way...inspiring.

omg - did you invade my head and pull this out? I am obsessed with white, and you are totally right when you say it can be warm and inviting.

Always makes me think of fluffy white doonas and pillows with morning sunlight filtering through sheer curtains (just to be vague...)
Great post!

Hmm, not usually into white, but some of these photos made me consider it for The New Apartment - that is, if we're allowed to paint o.O

Anne - Aren't they lovely? It almost makes me want to add a tutu to my wardrobe right this very minute :D

Evy - My pleasure, thanks for being here to look at them :D

The King Family - I love the white floorboards too! I never had control over the paint colours in my bedroom though, I had to put up with my sisters choices...white walls with an apple red ceiling. Ugh!

Renée - Thank you!

muthuz - :) Glad you enjoyed it!

Jordan Clarke - I can't believe I missed out on including a cosy bedroom scene! I'm definitely a fan of the big fluffy doona!

CheshireCatsGrin - Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :D

luvshabuu - Me too, I definitely feel the need for more soft whites and creams in my wardrobe!

Beatriz Kim - I used to be a very minimalist white lover, but I've obviously been converted too! Who knew white could be so cosy?!

Aidswe - Thanks little buddy! Is your break over yet? Back into a zillion assignments?

Sado - You might be lucky, your new apartment might be a white box already, much like mine! I just need to get rid of the boring beige carpet and I'm almost on my way to apartment heaven!

Tina - I have you to thank for introducing me to Janne Peters! I could literally blog every single one of her photographs, they're so beautiful! I've been trying to keep my white obsession under wraps, but when I found Alcholado's gallery I just couldn't resist any longer!

WELCOME TO MY WORLD - Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

at the beginning i was like 'eh, white, you can't eat tomato sauce on it, too much trouble', and by the end of that post i was like 'i really want to decorate a room in varying shades of white!'
you're like a genius or something...
