Wednesday Wisdom - Life in Waiting

We must be willing
to get rid of the life we've planned...

...so as to have the life
that is waiting for us.

- Joseph Campbell (1904 - 1987)

For most of my life, I've been planning to be where I am today. The expensive piece of paper, the ridiculous hours and the below average pay (see #6). I'm not sure what I was thinking, but it becomes more and more obvious each day that I'm not where I want to be. This isn't it. Something has to change.

That is a quote i love.

And ive found that no matter how much we plan that nothing ever turns out, exactly like we saw it. And a lot of times what we pictured isnt what gives us what we were looking for. But thats the beauty of tomorrow, its a new chance to get what we want. You'll find what you need and want. You will. Dont be afraid to make yourself happy. Doesn't matter how much time you put into what you have now, your happiness is the most important and vital thing you need to worry about! :)

Awww hun!! Where would you like to be instead of where you are now?

Any wild dreams? :-D

this first piece of advice is exactly what I need but somehow never know how to do. and that second picture is fantastic. Isn't it sad that I can't let the plans go? For fear that that little used-to-be-me child would hate me? :) & Sorry I'm not a member of FFFound but off to see what it is :) The first step is knowing you need change. Take little steps from there!!

so is the challenge...making a plan and being open to what life has planned for us...i try to play on that edge everyday with an open heart and mind.

I have every confidence you will be a great success with design journalism. I know a few architects. They've all worked so hard and are so undervalued for the skill they've honed. Most have left the profession.

I didn't know of that quote before I read it on your blog, but it was just what I needed today. It's amazing what happens when I loosen my grip and let things flow...that's the second happy accident today, after nothing but frustration lately.

Here's hoping that some happy accidents are on their way to you too. :)

I enjoy your Wednesday Wisdom.
Next time I feel the need to adjust my attitude I'll just think of you saying "Having your cranky pants on" and that will jolly me right into the present moment.

Hello my dear,

Its a tough one isn't it, I think the same thing when I look at my life - it should by rights be making me happy but its not, that's why I've def decided I'm heading home for a few years to try a slower pace and a new direction see where it takes me. I find it is hard to let go of the life you have planned though, somethings I want and always assumed I'd have - house, husband, kids - I'm not ready to give up on just get, but are they meant to be mine; who knows?!

Hope you feel better soon.

Kindest regards

Vanya
