Legs Eleven - From France, With Love

After spending two grand days at Semi-Permanent with some of the coolest kids in town (including the rad lady behind The Art of Jordan!) I'm feeling ridiculously inspired...and generally uncool. My neglected old wardrobe was enough to get me by for two days, but little more! And with my favourite fashiony season (winter, duh!) already hitting the stores and the catwalks in my neck of the woods, it's time to think warm and woolly, even if it's still shorts-and-singlets weather outside!

My staple during the cooler months is undoubtedly tights, which might explain why the amazing designs from Les Queues de Sardines literally have me jumping for joy.

Seriously, could they be any cuter? I'll be dreaming of cute little clouds and raindrops tonight!

I'm in complete inspiration overload after two amazing days at Semi-Permanent, and with so much great stuff crammed into my head, there's barely any room for words (of the coherent variety at least!)

In the meantime however, I just wanted to drop in and say hello and see what's happening! So...what's happening? What's inspiring you this fine weekend? Do tell!

Cherry Blossom Girl

As another Summer slips by and we ease into a somewhat skittish version of Autumn, I'm already planning my Winter wardrobe with glee. Out come the boots, the jackets and blazers, and the zillion pairs of tights that have been all but forgotten in the warmer months. But then, I see something like this...

...and suddenly I'm already missing the long, warm nights, the flowing dresses, oversized sunglasses and icy cold drinks. I'm regretting all the evenings I sat indoors and watched Seinfeld repeats instead of going to the beach or having a BBQ with friends...or at least making the most of the extended daylight in some small way.

So with only a few weeks of daylight savings left, I'm going to make a little promise to myself over the cooler months. Me and my oven are going to hang out a little, get to know each other again, and maybe just see where it takes us. With any luck, by the time Spring rolls around I might just be able to bake something edible without burning down my kitchen.

First stop: Cannelle et Vanille*. I know I should start small, but when all of Aran's recipes look and sound as amazing as the Cherry Blossom Doughnuts above, I really don't have a choice. Sure, my attempts are bound to look pathetic in comparison, but the taste will hopefully be another matter!

So tell me, fellow master chefs, where do you head for delicious recipes? Do you have a go-to book or a favourite blog, or do you make the most of what's in your pantry and still manage to whip up a masterpiece?

Letterbox Love - Postcard Gardens

When it comes to adorable letterbox surprises, there are few things that would be more welcome in my own little letterbox than these amazing Postcarden designs. The clever combination of Postcard + Gardens is the work of London-based A Studio for Design, with the first series of three featuring the work of Krista Nyberg, Millie Harvey and Sophie Burdess.

Both greeting card and gift rolled into one perfect green package, I'm so envious of all you EU folk who'll be able to get your hands on these in no time! Australia's quarantine laws will keep these little guys out for a while yet, but fingers crossed, one day in the not-too-distant future I'll find my own tiny Botanical plot sitting in my letterbox, waiting for some love!

What a fantastic response to the latest Giveaway Goodness - 99 entries! I knew you'd all love Keri-Anne's work as much as I did, but still, wowsers, what a great turnout!

What a week! On Monday it felt like Tuesday, on Tuesday it felt like Wednesday, on Thursday it felt like Monday and today if felt like Thursday! Phew!

I wish my weekend would look a little like this, but I have some very exciting projects underway at the moment so my imaginary oceanside villa will just have to wait!

Movie Title

Confession: I didn't watch the Academy Awards. Not a single second. I looked up some screenshots to see Ben Stiller getting his Avatar on, but that's it. Heck, I haven't even seen Avatar yet!

But nevertheless, as the Oscar buzz quietens down momentarily before sparking up for another year, I have to share this educational video with you. It is entitled 'How to Win an Academy Award'.

Gardens and Gasoline

Yet again I find myself completely devoid of the brainpower required to put together a coherent, worthy review of Alice, but look, I have some pretty flowers to make it up to you!

And not just any old flowers either! These are a few of the delightfully cheeky Pothole Gardens by Pete Dungey - a sly but pretty dig (excuse the pun) at the state of the roads in Britain.

Day Dreams

I'm not sure whether it's a lack of caffeine, a lack of sleep, or an evil combination of the two finally catching up with me, but no matter how many times I try to write my Alice in Wonderland review it comes across so much more negative than I mean for it to be.

So for now I'm going to offer my apologies for another delayed post, gaze lovingly at this amazing bedroom for a little longer (the work of my new designer crush, Kara Mann), then retire to my own (considerably less amazing) room with the hopes of an altogether more positive disposition tomorrow.*

Walk on the Wild Side

It's Monday again so I'm here with a little bit of eye candy to make the day more bearable. These delicious shoe designs come to us from Tea Petrovic, a Sarajevo designer.


Drawing inspiration from the works of architect/structural engineer extraordinaire Santiago Calatrava and sculptor Naum Gabo.

In her graduate project at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Tea has explored the possibilities of the ubiquitous high heel, or more specifically, the space "between a woman's heel and the floor".

The 10 prototypes, all hand made by Tea, are a beautiful translation of both Calatrava and Gabo's work, and whilst structural engineers might cringe at tension cables being used in compression (geeks!) and males from all backgrounds may write off the designs as 'unwearable', I suspect I'm not the only lady out there wishing for a few of these designs to magically appear in my cupboard (this from a woman who wears flats 99.9% of the time!)

Oh yes please!

Tiny Ten Thursday - Keri-Anne Pink

Well hello and welcome to another installment of the smashing new Unreliable series, Tiny Ten. You know the drill - ten tiny questions for one hugely talented creative type. Photographers, artists, musicians, fashionistas and even fellow bloggers - all the cool kids will be right here!

In the second shiny edition of Tiny Ten, I'm honoured and excited to feature the work of photographer and generally lovely English rose, Keri-Anne Pink, also known around the traps as gingerlillytea. How she manages to juggle her gorgeous blog, brimming Etsy store, endlessly inspiring Flickr stream AND her adorable little lady is absolutely beyond me. Here's a little more about the lady in question!

I had a Kodak 3 megapixel camera which I thought was the bees knees!

My Polaroid land camera. I love Polaroids and now they have started stocking film again, I am induldging in it all over again!

Photographers that influence my work include Tim Walker, Nicholas Routzen, Denise Grunstein and Annie Leibovitz. In my life, my daughter influences me. She has inspired me to be a better person and to follow my dreams.

Late spring to early summer. The bluebells are out, the weather is not too hot but lovely enough to wear lace dresses and sandals. I love wandering through woods and taking in all the nature sounds, smells and seeing the flowers bloom.

An underwater mermaid shoot. I would love to set up a magical kingdom under a lake.

I would love to go to Australia. One day I will take my family there. Also, I would love to visit the temples in India.

My daugher and husband (and my camera!)

Giving birth to my daughter. I cannot believe she chose me to be her mother. She has made me so so proud.

To have my work on front of book covers and in magazines around the world.

Will be the best year of my life so far.

See? Told you it would be worth the wait! A gigantic thank you to Keri-Anne for her patience and willingness to jump on board, and thank you for bearing with the delays, dear readers.

Beautiful Explosions

I knew this was going to be a long week when my iPhone freaked out, my iTunes kept freezing and I ended up relying on a backup from August 2009! And because that wasn't quite annoying enough, less than 24 hours later my poor little PC also decided to give one last flashing blue screen of doom before officially surrendering itself to the heavens. So one factory settings iPhone and a newly formatted PC later, it's probably an understatement to say that the next thing on the List of Things to Explode is, quite likely, my head. Oh, did I mention my attempts to back up my PC didn't work either? Superb!

Meanwhile, the moral of the story (aside from making sure your backups actually freakin' work!) is that I have a really exciting Tiny Ten to share with you, but in a last-ditch attempt to delay the inevitable brain explosion, you're going to have to wait until tomorrow. More organised bloggers would no doubt have already perfected the post by now, but hey, look at the name of this blog! Do I seem like the organised type to you? I think not.

So with any luck, I shall see you all here tomorrow. I promise it will be worth the wait!

Monday? AGAIN?!

If you're anything like me, you make big plans for productive weekends, you lay down for a little nap, and before you know it...it's Monday again! Sheesh!

And just to add to my Monday chagrin, I've been eyeing off this adorable DIY project over at Design*Sponge, and I'd promised myself that this was the weekend I was going to weild my hole puncher and get creative, and nothing was going to stop me!

But no such luck. An impromptu trip up the coast meant I barely had time to sleep. Sigh! Maybe next weekend...

On the bright side, I have another exciting installment of Tiny Ten lined up for tomorrow, plus a little surprise to go along with it - watch this space!

In the meantime...quick, someone tell me they did nothing all weekend either so I don't feel so bad!
