Deliver Me To Tempatation

I'm trying to resist posting every collection of lovely spring dresses I find around the traps, but I just can't hold myself back. I have a feeling I'm resorting to impulse blogging in an attempt to avoid impulse buying. So far so good.

This Springtime Obsession Post is brought to you by the talented peoples over at Australia's very own Maurie and Eve, who have been getting some much deserved attention from blogosphere fashion bibles of the likes of Coolhunting and Pipeline.

So tell me, does impulse blogging take the place of impulse buying, or does it just delay the inevitable?

Black, White, Bright

Aside from the occasionally austere corporate getup, Ann Demeulemeester's Spring 09 Collection is channelling Grecian through to Tibetan.

While I don't have the legs or the audacity to attempt any of these outfits, I can't help but be enamored.

Serious Eye Candy

I am by no means a foodista - I'd forget to eat if I didn't have lovely people around to gently remind me. But some 'food' is just so much more. In fact, the creations below looks so divine that actually eating them is purely optional. That's my kind of food!

Today's first helping of eye candy is brought to us by the lovely Amy Atlas, event planner and cupcake creator extraordinaire! I first came across this delicious little lady over at Simply Lovely, and have become even more obsessed with cupcakes ever since.

And just to complete the tasty cupcake overload, these little cupcakes of joy are the work of Kylie Lambert, as featured over at Style Me Pretty.

And on that note, I'm off to seek some local cupcake delights.

Happy weekend all!

Bringing the Outside In

If we ever needed a little more convincing that bigger is not always better, a quick glance at the residential architecture of Japan reminds us that good things do indeed come in small packages.

The 'House N' by Sou Fujimoto is an innovative design consisting of three shells, with each layer allowing for both glimpses and ample views of of the adjacent spaces. The house provides intimate corners and soaring heights, and a street presence that is both private and personable.

Hello Yellow

I just couldn't resist. Springtime, yellow flowers, an adorable puppy, a cute bicycle and a happy couple.

I like to pretend that weddings don't interest me, let alone even excite me, but these photos definitely bring out the (hopeful) bride in me. Found over at Brooklyn Bride, this lovely shoot is the work of whitebox weddings, and of course the happy couple Katie and Grady.

Work, Play, Sack

While some of the Spring 09 Ready to Wear collections have clearly been the result of way too many illicit substances (*cough*Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton*cough*), there's still a lot to love.

I for one am embracing the return of the assymetrical, one-shouldered sack aesthetic (seriously!), but generally speaking I'm still sticking with fairly conservative springtime apparel, from light, fresh dresses to killer corporate wear that makes the prospect of another day in the office all the more appealing.

Lanvin is my latest love for all sorts of reasons.

Work...

Play...

Sack...

Seriously.

Styling Up

When I was writing about the beautiful Paola Lenti outdoor settings, I started daydreaming about the kind of printed silk dresses I would float around in if I were fortunate enough to live anywhere even remotely as tropical as the setting below.

But on second thoughts, silk seems a little too formal for such a casual, laidback atmosphere, so I just had to pinpoint the ideal wardrobe for such an idllyic setting. Sure enough, Ralph Lauren came up with the goods.

A silk blouse and high waisted white pants are casual, I hear you say? Well no, but I'd like to picture myself nibbling on a croissant and sipping a delicious coffee before heading off to a meeting. Some of us must work for a living after all.

But clearly, one must also have an incredible figure to pull of high waisted pants of any description, so for now I'm safe from breaking my boycott of anything white-pants related.

Floaty white dresses with cute belts and adorable hats? That I can do.

Now where's my mojito?

Dress Code

On any given winter day, I can be found in a pair of well-worn jeans, beaten up old leather boots and a vintage jacket of some description. Occasionally I alternate scarves, but only because I like living on the edge.

So when spring rocks around, it's time for a new sensibility. New clothes, new attitude.

There's plenty of inspiration to be found, both on the catwalk and off.

Etsy is usually my first port of call, an invaluable treasure trove of uniquely beautiful designs of all shapes and sizes. The following dresses are no exception - the creation of the incredibly talented Makool, the two featured designs are both delicate and individual.

Back on the catwalks, the entire Spring 09 Collection from Lorick New York makes me contemplate filling my calendar with garden parties and high teas just so I can justify buying the whole line.

My infatuation with all things yellow has been reinvigorated once more, this time by the Sabrina Dehoff SS09 Collection.

And with a little help from Cacharel, I may even resort to floral prints for the first time since my 4th birthday.

And one final piece that I definitely won't be wearing this spring (or any time soon for that matter), but that I absolutely adore nonetheless, is this beautiful gown from the genius of Oscar de la Renta.

If it were legal to marry an item of clothing, I'd be well and truly engaged.

Heating Up

The great outdoors continue to throw plenty of inspiration my way, and I for one am ready for Summer with cocktail in hand.

Paola Lenti is providing plenty of the excitement with a beautiful line of outdoor furniture that makes 180 degree panoramic ocean views the new must-have accessory.

The casual, dare I say rustic charm of this outdoor setting speaks for itself.

And this little gem gets an honourary mention, despite not actually being outdoors. Eldridge Smerin are behind this little slice of Zen, and even a bare fluroescent light can't detract from this stark, calming design.

But while some of us are gearing up for a scorching hot summer, most of the world will need a little more help heating up. Fortunately, Elena Colombo has created some truly breathtaking Fire Features that would warm any soul.

A big arigato to the lovely people over at Trendir for providing all the above inspiration, and much, much more!

Beyond Spring

In my corner of the world, the trees are green, the flowers are blooming and the weather is warming, which can only mean one thing...Summer is just around the corner. What better time to start thinking about the possibilities of the great outdoors?

The environmentally friendly stylistas over at The Daily Green have compiled an inspiring collection of natural swimming pools to get us all geared up for a green-hot summer.

The smell of chlorine was once a staple of summer, but the chemical has recently been linked to a number of negative side effects, and I'm not just talking about a sickly green tinge for those of us with fair hair. Since when did summer result in an increased risk of asthma, wheezing in young children, and toxic breakdown products that result from human byproducts like sweat?! Eek!

Whether you embrace the natural aesthetic or clean sharp lines, going green has never looked so good.

Untitled Whimsy

My obsession with balloons went off the charts today when I came across the stunning work of Dorthe Alstrup over on The 20x200 Blog.

I for one am distraught that I missed out on the opportunity of adding these beautiful prints to my growing collection of all things balloon related, but anyone who has a spare $1600 laying around can still get their hands on the very last print.

Better be quick!

The Fairytale Continues

Yet again I find myself returning to the wonderful year of 2003, and yet more inspired fashion photography. This time it's the work of Eugenio Recuenco, who's Fairytale shoot for Vogue Espana rivals even that of my beloved Tim Walker - the art direction is absolutely beautiful, but words simply can't do it any justice. Behold.

For the Love of Tim

I have rekindled my love affair with Tim Walker. It was only a matter of time, especially after reliving those sacred Falling Garden moments of Venice a few weeks ago.

The lovely Lily Cole is her usual beautiful, ethereal self in the following selection of images from Vogue ('04 & '05), but let's be honest, any photographer with a portfolio of crumbling interiors, lucsious cottage gardens and suspended cakes and donuts has already won my heart.

Add a shared love of balloons, and you have a match made in heaven.

Bestill my beating heart.
