Wednesday Wisdom - The Best Medicine

Laughter is the sun
that drives winter
from the human face.

- Victor Hugo (1802 - 1885)

The most wasted of all days
is one without laughter.

- E. E. Cummings (1894 - 1962)

He has achieved success
who has lived well,
laughed often, and loved much.

- Bessie Stanley

The human race has one
really effective weapon,

and that is laughter.

- Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)

Laughter is the closest distance
between two people.

- Victor Borge (1909 - 2000)

Man is distinguished
from all other creatures

by the faculty of laughter.

- Joseph Addison (1672 - 1719)

At the height of laughter,
the universe is flung into
a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.

- Jean Houston

Laughter is an instant vacation.

- Milton Berle (1908 - 2002)

Shared laughter
creates a bond of friendships.
When people laugh together,
they cease to be young and old,
teacher and pupils, worker and boss.
They become a single group
of human beings.

- W. Lee Grant

Laughing is the sensation
of feeling good all over
and showing it principally in one spot.

- Josh Billings (1818 - 1885)

And in the sweetness of friendship
let there be laughter
and the sharing of pleasures.
For in the dew of little things
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.

- Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)

I was irrevocably betrothed to laughter,
the sound of which
has always seemed to me

to be the most civilized music
in the world.

- Peter Ustinov (1921 - 2004)

You don't stop laughing
because you grow old.
You grow old
because you stop laughing.

- Michael Pritchard

I don't think I've ever gone through a whole day without laughing at least once, and I hope to keep it that way! Once I've had my morning caffeine hit, it doesn't take much to set me off...in case you haven't already noticed, I'm easily amused at the best of times. What makes you giggle? Is there something that makes you laugh even if you're in the most terrible mood?

I always giggle when I see/hear children laughing or playing. I think they're the most adorable and innocent things! Their emotions are honest and they've no cares like the rest of us. In their laughter rings pure joy. :)

PS: I loved this post. I'm smiling widely now.

For someone supposedly 'unreliable', you are a relible source of something happy and irreverent. You are way cool!!

Ah, I really need a laughter-reminder! Thanks, this made me smile! When I'm upset, my (unofficial) boyfriend would pick a little daisy or little flower for me and say something cheesy like "A flower for my flower"! haha! Cheesy lines like that make me laugh!

I have alot of imagination, so if someone tells me a situation in which he/she was, I can imagine the scene and sometimes exagerate it even more and we laugh even more. I love this blog, it makes my day, everyday! :)

No matter how hard the day is, my son's laughter always soothes the weary soul! Love the picture of the baby in hands.

My brothers and I always make each other laugh. Even during the hard times, we'd talk seriously about what need serious consideration, but eventually one of us would crack a joke and we'd all be laughing in no time. Even though we are 27, 31 and 38, and living hundreds of miles apart, all it takes is a phone call and we can instantly slip into our 6, 10 and 17 year old selves, making each other laugh until we cry.

A wonderful post as always, Ms. Unreliable. Thank you!

My nickname in high school was "Giggles". It doesn't take much to set me into a laughing frenzy. People say they know I'm coming, because they recognize my laughter first.

Laughing sets me free from problems, concerns, and duties. Nothing compares to a good hearty laughter! It releases your endorphins, a natural "pick up drug" in your brain. What loveliness!

Great post - I love laughing but making people laugh is always better - I love sending a coworker something funny and then hearing them laugh - especially when they are having a bad day!

Edward makes me laugh.
And so does David Sedaris. I once ran off the road driving to the beach because I was laughing so hard at one of his CDs.
