Happy Weekend!

Do you ever have one of those weeks that just blurs by, leaving you wondering where exactly certain days went? I had one of those, and I STILL have no idea what I did on Friday...or today for that matter.

In light of my ailing memory, I'm really digging the idea of keeping a journal - a real paper and ink journal, complete with little snippets of inspiration. I'm obviously not the only one lusting after a scrapbooking outlet, as Polka Dot Robot put these lovely images together as part of her Online Art Journal Class (which sadly seems to be all booked out - boo!)

I have a whole box full of half-empty art journals that I never quite got around to finishing, so I think this might just be a new project...and a new reason to update my cork inspiration boards (the ones that haven't changed a bit since I posted these photos in 2008 - oops!)

Perhaps I've been avoiding the land of scissors and glue after far too many nights spent making 'concept collages' at architecture school, but I think I've had enough of a break now that it might just be time to bring my crafty scissors out of retirement. I even have a little project to spur me into action (it's top secret for now, can't wait to show you!)

What do you think of the resurgence of journals, diaries and all things scrapbooky? Do you have the time and/or stamina to keep one going? I'm the Queen of Unfinished Projects, but maybe, just maybe, I'll keep one going through the year if I have a little help from you all!

In fact, I'm going to start one right now! I'll be back tomorrow with a few Weekend Reads, but in the meantime I wish you all a grand weekend!

xx Kit

one of my new years resolution was to write in a journal daily. Not so much scrapbooking/ collaging yet, but I keep meaning to.

good luck with yours!
I always start a journal (paper and ink) every January. By the middle of February I put in my last entry and every now and then when I'm having a rough time in my life, I dig out my journal and write something. So out of an entire year there may only be about 40 or so entries. I try and I try to keep up with writing in it, but it just doesn't work. Maybe I'll try a way of scrapbooking/journaling. That may work better for me. Great post! I'll check back often. :)
you could say they are half full!
if you are the queen of unfinished products, then i am the empress. but i never stop trying! because starting them usually fulfills a need that i'm having at the time, even if i don't end up needing to or having the time to finish them. I hope the journal works out! good luck :)
Yeah, i cut pictures i like out of magazines all the time♥ and i keep them all in a folder, where the never see the love of daylight :(

i think its time to give them a little breathing room... lol thanks for the idea :)

love the pictures by the way :)
I keep a journal in my back pocket as I travel the lands, and write poetry along as I go. And that's the thing: everyone has a different purpose for a journal. Some, daytimers. Others, scrapbooks. I have no idea what I'm saying and now I'm just rambling. It's a weird kind of morning. ANYWAY, I love your blog. Keep on writing,

I can't tell you how many times I've started a journal or some kind of cool project and never finished. My best journal still has pages left unwritten in, and I'm thinking about burning it later, because, honestly, it is not one that I want people reading when I die.

Not. One. Bit.

But having one with snippets of inspiration and artsy stuff... I like that idea.
I might do that, too.
But I am picky about journals. If I get one it has to look and be just right. Took me forever to find the one I have and I don't even like it that much.
that's exactly like me!!! i just never get around to finishing things!

p.s. loove your blog!!!
what an inspiring blog - keep it up
I love that. :)

I have a diary/journal... The only bad thing is that I get frustrated and leave it unfinished... I have already started like three notebook/diaries...

I love the whole scrapbooking and journaling thing... Now, it's on my list of things I want to do. :D
Oh I totally understand Your problem - I have the same drawback. I have an excellent idea about what to create/design/write etc. and when I start to do it I very quickly become bored or out of time of out of right words/materials/sketches to finish. It's a terrible thing -.-
I am the SAME WAY. I have stacks upon stacks of unfinished journals. I just get bored easily, but I hate that about me!
haha i too have piles of unfinished projects. it's in my nature. i have too many things i want to create that sometimes i get overwhelmed by it all. it makes me happy to see i'm not alone. i especially love your blog title. that unreliable girl, i'm sure some people call me that, though never to my face :)

I'm not a scrapbooker, but I live by my journals and notebooks! I always have a moleskin on my nightstand, in my purse, and in my work bag. But I write for a living, so not sure if that's normal. ;)
she's doing a summer journal-ling class - excited for it.
so happy you joined this class. I'm the same with journals- they just pile up and the ideas come and go but this time I'd love to combine both.

See you in class ;)
